The CYA takes over the Yough falls clinics!

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

The CYA takes over the Yough falls clinics!

Post by H. Keitel »

Last night I was notified via telegram that an over the falls event took place on the Yough river in Ohiopyle, PN on Sat. Aug. 5. I was also noted via telegraph that three members of the Corn Youth Alliance not only ran the falls but effectively took over operations of the safety portion of the event. Jules and Thomas worked the top of the falls giving the stop/go signals and Guy strategically placed himself on a rock at the bottom where he roped out some poor individual who, as you boaters say, "took a wicked beat down" and nearly drowned.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate these fine individuals and to publicly declare how proud I am of them for thier bravery and grace. I was also sent, via telegraph, the following photos.

I would also like to annouce the upcoming production. A television mini-series on the events leading up to the US terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 staring yours truley with an allstar cast including Patricia Heaton and Toufig Tulsiram. How can that be bad?

Guy?s picture looks like he is going to land flat, at that height yon can do some damage. Did they teach that in the clinic?

Great pictures btw, looks like a ton-of-fun

Thank you Mr. Keitel and everyone else. We had a really fun day running the falls.

In that very run, my first, I had a great line and boof and landed smooth as silk.
Envelope – Free stationary taken from the Marriott while on a business trip.
Snowflake address label – sent to me free and had to be used up.
Stained glass stamp – It was more then three feet away from me when I decided to get them so you know I didn’t see them clearly
Butterfly and Sunflower stickers on the back – Also free and required because the glue on the envelope was so old it no longer stuck.

I wish I could have made it over to the falls clinic, those are some great photos. Unfortunately, there were about 5 million kayaks on the UY and I didn't get off the river until about 4. How many times did you guys get to run the falls?

Our good friend Harvey must not have recieved this photo. I'm sure if he did he would have shared it as well. It's good friend of the Corn, Ray on his third drop, running under the watchful eyes of Jules and Thomas.

Note to Rob Ault: I had to scratch my head.

Yep, the pencilling-in thing didn't work so well. I heard one person comment that it hurt to land flat, but most everyone did. Besides, guy's spine has been pre-compressed and he's "strong as ox!" As far as "teaching" in the clinic, some groups had leaders who spent time with them discussing every aspect; ours essentially said, "ok, if we can hurry we can put on before the group ahead of us - follow me, don't go in the crescent (of the 2nd drop above) and you'll be fine." Not complaining - our guy (Jeff Snyder) was awesome!

Wow. I am proud to know you all.

It's not the quality of the water or the run, but the report and the photos.

You've scored big on all acounts.
