Sunday morning James River Rescue

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

Sunday morning James River Rescue

Post by open boater »

I'd like to thank my paddling crew and RVA River Rescue team for yesterdays performance. I was attempting to exit my canoe to stretch just above the entrance to Pipeline. My foot got stuck behind me as the canoe flipped causing my recently replaced left hip to disclocate. Great job by Jenny Wiley contacting rescue and a tremendous job by river rescue carrying me in a litter to street level and getting me to MCV where they were able to reduce the dislocation and send me home with a full leg brace. Additional thanks to the paddling crew for getting my gear back to 14th street and loading my car.
I have watched river rescue for over 25 years, never thinking I would need them-Today I say many thanks for a great job!

Hey Tom, I'm glad it wasn't as bad as it could've been. Hoping you have a quick heal.

Thought I would let everyone know that I'm doing fine, my hip was not damaged and I'm walking pain free.
