Goshen Pass CLEANUP, Cookout & Paddle 3/21 OCT

Post by Alicia »

Please join us for this annual good karma event! Coastals has been doing some version of this for over 30 years!
You supply the labor, the club supplies the cookout and the river gods hopefully supply some water.

We'll meet @ the Rockbridge Baths P.O. on Rt. 39 on Saturday, 3/21, @ 10am. Please park across from, NOT in front of or adjacent to the P.O. I'll have orange vests & trash bags. BRING GLOVES. Then we'll drive upstream, stagger our parking, & pick up all the trash we can alongside Rt. 39 & down towards the river where possible. I recommend long pants & long sleeves due to poison ivy. About noon, we'll head back to my nearby house for burgers & dogs.

Most years, we've been fortunate to have enough water to then run 1 or 2 sections of the Maury - the Pass [Advanced], Indian Pools down [intermediate] &/or below the P.O. [low intermediate]. If not, Balcony Falls is always available as a back-up (35 minute drive from RB). Or there is hiking in the Pass.

To help with my shopping for the cookout, PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY THURSDAY, 3/19, IF YOU ARE COMING. However, if you decide to come @ the last minute, you'll still be quite welcome, I just won't be able to promise you a big lunch.

I'll post any weather/river updates closer to the 21st (or Ken might, as he is coordinating the river trip part).

Advance thanks for helping out on this special and worthwhile event!

Alicia, thanks for having this again! Lee and I are planning on it. Let me know what I can bring.

Thanks, Barb. No need to bring anything unless the spirit moves you. Please ask Lee to bring a few plates - I have enough other paper products from him from last year.

I'll have burgers & fixin's, hot dogs, chips, drinks & cookies. Plus non-meat burgers for the couple non-meat eaters I know (let me know if you are one, too). All courtesy of Coastals.

Please RSVP by Thursday PM, 3/19, as I will shop on Friday. Thanks!

I think I responded outside the forum, but in case I didn't, I'll be there for the cleanup. I'll make a decision about the paddle later this week.

Thanks Alicia!

I'll be there for the clean up and food, but not paddling. Please count me in for a veggie burger.

Thanks Alicia!

Hi Alicia,
I will be working late Friday preventing joining the clean up/lunch. Would like to join padding if that would be OK?

Hi Jill - work is a bummer but a legit excuse!

Yes, see here about paddling: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=17626

I expect Ken might post his best guess this evening. Might be hard to give an exact time since it'll be after we're done lunch. You're welcome to show up at my house anytime.
