O.C.T Bottom Tye
I'll start with the bottom line - We're going to have to wait to what novice level streams are available. Everything was WAY too low a couple of days ago, and now streams are WAY too high for most novice trips.
https://waterdata.usgs.gov/va/nwis/uv?s ... 0&period=7
We need 150 - 600 cfs combined of the above for the Tye. The current 1830+1150 = 2980 cfs is too high for me for the bottom Tye
And 130 - 300 in just the Piney for the Piney. The current 1150 cfs is too high for me for the bottom Piney.
I still can't predict what is going to be in a couple of day. maybe by this evening.

Re: O.C.T Bottom Tye
I will offer you an estimate for flows Friday before noon. May be one of these deals that we have to check early Saturday morning.
Thanks for posting. Love the Piney/Tye.

Re: O.C.T Bottom Tye
I would love to have your input JJ.
We've got basically 580 in Tye and 450 in Piney today. It's a go for Saturday. one river or the other. Piney/Tye is first choice I expect. It may depend a little on the group. We still have to keep cars on the road to unload boats and then we park in the field across the street.
meeting at the access at Tye River Depot on this map http://goo.gl/maps/NtlFV to set shuttle.
You can check this website for other maps and such too http://www.nelsoncountyva.org/NelDRace/
If we paddle the lower Piney into the Tye. we'll put in at Rose Mill Road and take out at Tye River Depot. - it's a tad more technical than the bottom Tye. It's narrow for the first mile or so. Solid class 2 I’d call it. The water is coolish – mid 60’s.
Please contact me to let me know you're going.

It's a fun little class 2

I could stand to get out this weekend, but I am not sure where or when you guys (sorry - y'all) are planning to go.

I'm not going to make it. Our younger son is in town for the UVa game (which is NOT going well) and will be staying overnight with us. And we have the belated birthday celebration for our older son in Richmond tomorrow evening. So, my day got squeezed. Have fun and be safe. The high water may have added some junk in the river wherever you end up.
