Join us on a James River trip from Hardware to New Canton, also known as Seven Islands. We'll meet at the boat landing in New Canton at 10:30. Let me know who's coming.

Hello Martha -

I was wondering if I could join this trip with my wife and myself on my cataraft. I haven't been on this section of the James and wonder how low the water might be/how tight the channels? It is a 12 foot long cataraft, about 6 feet wide that I row. It drafts maybe 4 or 5 inches with me and my wife aboard. We are self sufficient with regard to the shuttle - just looking for a new section and making some new friends.

Let me know what you think if you can. Thanks!

The river is low but not summer low. I can think of only one rapid that might be tight so you should be okay. You are certainly welcome to join us.

I'll be there. I can drive shuttle if needed, for 3 more boats (2 hard and an IK or 3 hard) and 3 people.

I'm happy catching a ride with others, too, if that is the best use.

Thanks Martha, for coordinating a trip on a beautiful day. for which so many people turned out!

It was good to meet some new people and catch up with some I hadn't seen in a while.
