Club Gathering May 15--Paddle Jackson

Post by Terri »

The Coastals 2021 Spring Gathering is happening! The gathering, supper, and program will be on Saturday, May 15 at Douthat State Park, Carson Pavilion. (Note there is no electricity.) No potluck, just bring your own supper this year. It might be helpful to bring your own chair too.

Alicia will be coordinating an intermediate/advanced paddle hopefully on the Bullpasture. Please stay tuned for more info from Alicia.

The novice trip on Saturday May 15 will be on the Jackson River from Johnson Springs Boat Launch to Petticoat Junction--about 8 miles. It's a beautiful Class I/II stream. We'll meet at the put-in at Johnson Springs Boat Launch. In order to be as safe as possible, we may divide the group up. Please let me know if you are coming, and I'll let you know the meet time.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the river! Terri

For those that are going to hang out on Saturday after paddling, we have the Carson pavilion. I will have charcoal going for those that want to share the grill.

This pavilion has no electric, so if you are of a mind, bring a flashlight or lantern.

See you soon!

Glad you're coming, Bill Capp. Please let me know if you decide to run the Jackson on Sat, especially since Alicia's trip on the Bullpasture is unlikely. Terri

Jackson paddle

Pamela and I are coming, but don't know where we will stay Friday night. Campsites and cabins at Douthat are booked solid. The Morris Hill campground is the only one at Moomaw reasonably close to the put in. It does not take reservations, so campsite availability is unknown. We may just drag ourselves out of bed early and come from home. Please let me know when to be there.

Oops, Morris Hill Campground does not take reservations because it does not open until May 23. Most likely we will come from home.

Reece,
I have a cabin reserved at Douthat for Fri and Sat nite that I don't need. I believe I can transfer it to you. I'll contact you privately.
