MASON'S is IN! Perfect & Falling, but I think should be good for laps through the the early afternoon at least.

We'll stick with an 11:30 geared up at the take out. The put in is small so we'll condense & head there after we gear up.

If you don't see us at the take out, wait 10 min, we're running a lap.

I hope everyone had a great Creek Day yesterday. 7 Coastals rallyed to paddle Mason's Creek outside Roanoke, VA. Folks came from afar to earn PFDs of our little local gem, including Blacksburg, Clifton Forge, Charlottesville and Martinsville. Plus 3 regional regulars.

Ken, we missed you. But I bet there will always be better stuff up near you running if Mason's runs, so I have a feeling this gem will continue to exist in your far off dreams, lol. Ginny, folks today described it as Kibler-esque.


Levels were perfect. Starting at just below 4ft when the creek was visually checked in the morning. It ranged from ~3.7-3.2 over the 3 laps Chris & I did. The OCT was our 2nd run, and 2 of those stayed for our 3rd lap.

Yep, It looks like River App pulls from the Virginia Flood and Observation Network, but still take it with a grain of salt as it often doesn't update for days, and even hours can bring this creek up or drop it out. Always get a local to visually scope this one out before driving to too far for it. But it will typically Run after a storm if it looks like John's Creek will run. It's doesn't hold water as long as John's though.
