OCT Upper / Lower Gauley First Timer Trip October 5, Upper Gauley only October 6
IF interested emails only please
I will be coordinating a trip on the Upper / Lower Gauley First Timer Trip October 6, Upper Gauley only October 7th
Think you might be ready for the Upper or Lower Gauley?
What you need:
• Rock-solid rolling ability: not that you have to make the first one every time, but the ability to go for it till you get it is key. combat rolling experience a plus.
• Class 4 rapid experience: big water, small water, lots of 3+… whatever you’ve got let me know.
• Endurance: sure the current does most of the work but adrenaline can take its toll
• Go-for-it attitude
Camping:
Rays Campground in Hico - 1199 Sunday Rd, Hico, WV 25854
Meeting time
At 9am all days at Rays for Upper and Lower meet at put in at 1pm
About me:
I have run the Upper and Lower Gauley over a dozen times. I had a some great mentors take me down who show me the best lines. I want to pass them on 

If you are a first timer and are interested, in either section please email me with
“Upper Gauley First Timer trip” if you are interested and “Lower Gauley First timer trip “ in the subject line.
Please include your “paddling resume”

• Name,
• Boat you’ll be paddling,
• Favorite river,
• Roll reliability,
• What are the last 3 rivers you have paddle and their levels
• How you did on the said rivers i.e. rolls/ swims. had fun?
• And if you are a first timer.

Please don't just show up. The Upper and Lower Gauley is an Advanced skill level river.

I will be screening folks to make sure that we’re not getting in over our head and to keep the trip safe. I hope that all understand why this is necessary.
There will be a cap on the number of people I can accept on the trip.
This is dependent on the number of UG/ LG veterans who join the trip.

So all you UG/LG Veterans if you feel comfortable
on the UG/LG and would like to help a “new to the UG/LG” paddler,
Please let me know.
I want to make this as safe a trip as possible. Thanks for your help!
