Nice treat in August, plus no summer heat and humidity. Low but quite adequate level (2.04’ USGS @ RB). We had 16 boaters, including some who’d never done this section.
OC1: Barb Franko, Lee Keller, John Sills, Ken Dubel, & me.
K1: Raymond Williams, Kurt Sisson, Mike Buckley, Ginny Newton, Terri Bsullak, Jen & John Reeher, Edwin Talley, Richard McNamara, John ?, and Liz Bradford.
Thanks for coming out!

It was a fun day for me. Easy part first, here's a link to the short version of the photos.

I'm happy to report we had a smooth day for the most part, no significant injuries.
One sorta dicey spot has developed. As far as I know this run has no "official" rapid names so many years ago I made up some of my own. I call this one "Unpleasant Surprise". After a pool the river drops left over a cobble shoal then turns right through a nice wave train. There is a small boulder lurking under one of those waves that isn't obvious from above.
Unpleasant Surprise!
There is now a tree down in the river along the left bank. There is room to get around it but doing so is an against-the-river move. Meaning, the current is sending you straight to it so you have to set an angle to the right and paddle away from the hazard. We set some safety points and thankfully everyone made it past the tree just fine.
Here's the link to the longer version. Beware when clicking, this one's intended for the folks on the trip. It's many more photos.
