O.C.T. Sat. 3/24 Goshen Pass Clean-up RESCHEDULED TO 4/7
****CLEAN-UP & COOKOUT RESCHEDULED DUE TO SNOW ON GROUND IN THE PASS. WE'LL STILL LIKELY PADDLE THE PASS AS LONG AS THERE'S ENOUGH WATER, SAY NOON @ LEDGES. POST HERE BY FRI NITE IF YOU WANT TO PADDLE.
SORRY FOR THE SCHEDULE CHANGE. HOPE ALL CAN MAKE IT IN 2 WEEKS, ON 4/7. THANKS!
Please mark your calendars for this umpteenth annual good karma event!
We'll meet @ the Rockbridge Baths P.O. on Rt. 39 on Sat, 3/24/18, @ 10am. Please park across from, NOT in front of or adjacent to the P.O. I'll have orange vests & trash bags. Then we'll drive upstream, stagger our parking, & pick up all the trash we can alongside Rt. 39 & down towards the river where possible. Please bring gloves. I also recommend long pants & long sleeves due to poison ivy. About noon, we'll head back to my house in RB for a cookout, courtesy of Coastals.
Most years, we've been fortunate to have enough water to then run 1 or 2 sections of the Maury - the Pass [Advanced], Indian Pools down [intermediate] &/or below the P.O. [low intermediate]. Fingers crossed for water this year. If not, Balcony Falls is always available as a back-up (35 minute drive from RB).
To help with my shopping list for the cookout, PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY THURSDAY, 3/22, IF YOU ARE COMING. However, if you decide to come @ the last minute, you'll still be quite welcome, but I won't be able to promise you a big lunch.
Thanks in advance for helping with this worthwhile club event - last year we had 36 volunteers & collected 54 bags of trash, extending our pick up area both above & below the Pass!
Please note the Pass trip will be putting in @ the swinging bridge, which is a Wildlife Management Area & requires a DGIF access permit or fishing or hunting license. See here for info: http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/access-permit/ and http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/licenses/
Hope to see you 3/24!

Thanks for the RSVPs.
I'd appreciate hearing from others if you're coming so I have enough vests, orange bags, & food. Please let me know by Thurs night as I'll shop on Friday.
I think there's a good chance we'll have options to paddle, as there's decent rain & some snow in the forecast this week. Hoping Sat AM won't have snow so we can find the trash! But there is a chance of a wintry mix Sat., so please watch this space for possible change of plans (I was thinking Sunday for a back-up, but it might be wetter/colder).
Thanks, Alicia

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!
POSTPONED TO 4/7

I'm still interested in paddling if you're willing to show a first timer the lines. I've been on the lower section once before, but it's been a few years.Alicia wrote:****CLEAN-UP & COOKOUT RESCHEDULED DUE TO SNOW ON GROUND IN THE PASS.
