OCT 40th Annual Bill Gordon Lower Yough (Oct. 29 & 30)

Post by Dave »

Come join the longest consecutive running Coastals Trip. Enjoy the beautiful western PA mountains.

The 40th Annual Bill Gordon Lower Yough trip will be October 29th & 30th. We will meet Saturday morning at 10:00 at the put-in (AKA 'The Grassy Knoll') in Ohiopyle.

It may be cold, so please dress accordingly. The Yough runs free until spring so launch tickets and shuttle tokens will not be necessary.

Please let me know if you are planning on attending. You may email, call (contact info in the roster) or send a message via the message board.

Please come willing to help with shuttle rather than doing your own thing. Be courteous of everyone on the trip.

Tall Oaks is campground says they have "plenty of group sites available. Just show up.". If there is sufficient interest we can try to get a pavilion & sites near it.

Mangles are planning on attending. Not sure where we're staying yet.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!

Camping at Tall Oaks. Does anyone know which group site? I'd like to get an electric site nearby.

They didn't give me a reservation. First one there pick one & tell them you are with the Coastal Canoeists. I doubt it will be very busy.

I've been asked the location of the campground. It may be found via this link: http://maps.google.com/?q=544%20Camp%20 ... PA%2015437

I probably will not be able to paddle Saturday, but intend to drive over from Pittsburgh Sunday morning. What time and where will you be assembling on Sunday morning? Ray 412-337-3359

Two warm and sunny days on the river in late October. Over 20 paddlers each day, though not many of us who paddled with Bill, on this 40th anniversary- weekend. Off the river today before the rain started. A good time was had by all, thanks to Dave. Tom McCloud
