From Alicia :

I've run the Lower Gauley down to 1000. Low but quite doable. And a treat in warm weather.

Note: Alicia has run Gauley, not I.

Thanks Ginny, and Jon. Gromit and I will make a game day decision between Middle and/or Lower Gauley, and NRG. The decision will be based on water levels and interest. Also, I'm trying to find out if the road down to the Lower Gauley put in is open/passable.

As for the Sat nite dinner - I'm a bit confused, too. The "gatherings" page, http://www.coastals.org/meeting/, says 2 different things. A chart breaks it down by last name for 4 different items, but then the specific Summer event says this: "Cookout dinner - a cookout Saturday evening starting at 7 PM with the Club providing the burgers and hot dogs. The cookout is free but is only available to paid dues members. If you’d like to bring a side dish it would be most appreciated."

It's definite that hot dogs and hamburgers will be cooked Saturday night. I'm bringing cheese, mustard, ketchup, mayo, pickles, lettuce, onions, and lots of chips.

Brian and I are coming and paddling Sat and Sun. Most likely NRG because I expect LG to be too low (paddled it last weekend at 4000 cfs...roads to Woods Ferry put-in and Swiss take-out are fine).Definitely interested in a low-water UG.

So far I only have one person confirmed for the non-boater friendly raft ride on Sunday down the NRG. Any other takers?

Jon: My wife and daughter would like to join your raft for NRG on Sunday. Brian and I will be in kayaks. A couple years ago they rafted NRG commercially at 12 ft (pause for oohs and aahs). They aren't great, but they have all the gear except for raft paddles. I might have one more person if you're still looking.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!
