OCT Russell Fork

This trip is for the upper and lower Russell Fork River at the Breaks Interstate Park in Breaks, Va. It is a Class III run. We put in below the John C. Flannagan Dam on the Pound River and take out at Garden Hole. For paddlers who want more we then put in below the gorge and run to Elkhorn City, KY.
We will meet Sat, Oct 10, noon, in the Breaks Interstate Park parking lot by the registration office and restaurant. It will be on the left after you enter the park and pass the lodge.
There is camping at the Park and motel rooms at the park lodge or the Gateway Motel outside of the park. Phone # for the Gateway is 276-531-8481.

For anyone looking to go up on Friday and stay at the Breaks Park be advised all the lodge rooms are booked for Friday night. There are plenty of rooms Saturday and Sunday but none for Friday night. Can't wait to find out what has caused the booking of every lodge room for that Friday night.
Got me a room at Gateway so I will see you all Saturday to go explore a new river for me.

I got reservations at the Gateway for Saturday night.

Family and high school reunions are big at the Breaks Lodge this time of year. It wouldn't surprise me if that would be the cause of the lack of rooms Friday night.

Put me down as a tentative. If I can get my planning done for the Fall Meeting during the week, then I can go to the RF that weekend.

I'm planning to be there and bringing the shredder. Since we are meeting at noon, I'll get there on Saturday AM. Let me know if the meet time changes. John, I think you've probably got either Mark's or my cell #. I will not have my smart phone, so a response via email won't reach me, but a call or a text will.

Not sure if I am camping or staying at the Lodge. I'll figure it out on Saturday morning.
