OCT for Goshen clean-up, cook-out & paddle 3/28
Please mark your calendars for this annual fun & good-karma event!
We will meet @ the Rockbridge Baths P.O. on Rt. 39 on Sat, 3/28, @ 10am. Please do NOT park in front of or adjacent to the P.O. I'll have orange vests & trash bags. Then we'll drive upstream, stagger our parking, & pick up all the trash we can alongside Rt. 39 & down towards the river where possible. Please bring gloves. I also recommend long pants & long sleeves due to poison ivy. About noon, we'll head back to my house in RB for a cookout, courtesy of the Coastals' Recognition program.
In past years, we've been fortunate to have enough water to then run 1 or 2 sections of the Maury - the Pass [Advanced], Indian Pools down [intermediate] &/or below the P.O. [low intermediate]. Hoping for water again this year. If not, Balcony Falls is always available as a back-up (35 minute drive from RB).
To help with my shopping list for the cookout, PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY THURSDAY, 3/26, IF YOU ARE COMING. However, if you decide to come @ the last minute, you'll still be quite welcome, but I won't be able to promise you a big lunch.
Thanks in advance for helping with this worthwhile event - last year we had 26 volunteers & collected 32 bags of trash. While I hope there's less trash this year, it'd be great to have even more volunteers.

Goshen clean up
I plan to be there!!
I will be there also. I might bring a friend, but not sure right now....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!
FYI on needing DGIF access permit for swinging bridge P/I
Great - thank you, guys & gals! Bring all your friends!
I forgot to tell folks that the Pass trip will be putting in @ the swinging bridge, which is a Wildlife Management Area & requires a DGIF access permit or fishing or hunting license.

Reminder, in order to help with my shopping list for the cookout, PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY THURSDAY, 3/26, IF YOU ARE COMING.
Possible 1/2" rain forecast for Thursday - do your rain dances so we'll have water to paddle.
thanx, aj

Cake sounds good - thanks, Regina!
Afraid it's going to be cool here Sat - high 30s in AM, low 40s afternoon.
I'm also afraid the forecast rain is looking less promising, tho I'm still hopeful we'll @ least have enough water to run the section below the P.O. to Copper Road. I'd like to see @ least 2.0' USGS for that section. Balcony Falls is also still a possible back-up plan, unless the wind forecast worsens.
Please let me know tomorrow if you're coming, as I'll be shopping for the cookout on Fri.
thanks to all - aj
