The rules are few, but very important: Coastals trips are intended primarily for club members. However, visitors are invited to check us out! Paddling can be quite dangerous. All trip participants assume full responsibility for their own safety. The coordinator only organizes the trip. Paddlers must self-rate themselves for these trips. Difficulty ratings are intended as a rough guide and are subject to error. You are expected to research an unfamiliar river yourself. Please don’t just “show up”. Please don’t bring unexpected guests. Please don’t endanger yourself and the group by paddling a trip that you are not prepared for. Please contact the trip coordinator by 9:00 p.m. Thursday to confirm you are going.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!

I have 2 of my sons and one daughter-in=law flying in on the 9th of Oct. I want to do a trip down the Lower Gauley, me in my cataraft and them in a raft. Can you recommend a good raft company down there? I'd like to tag along with you guys both days if that is at all possible. Anyone taking a raft by chance? I have three volunteer rowers/paddlers if you do. :)

Fred, Just posted the Mangles LG Trip, http://www.coastals.org/forum/viewtopic ... 2691#62691

You're welcome to join us. Did you ever get the new Cat you were thinking about?

Sorry, no recommendations for raft companies. Anybody else got any intel?

I have a new frame, oars, seat, etc, spent about $2100, but have to wait on the tubes till late winter. :( Had some other life issues pop up. But it's ok. I'm coming that weekend and bringing my kids, well one is 33 and the other one is 22, so not really kids anymore! :) Should be a blast. Can't wait, I have not been able to get out near enough this year. That has got to change as I probably only have one more year here before moving back out west.
