Several of us (two tandem canoes) are coming from the Hampton Roads area tomorrow (Saturday, 6/7) to scout the James from Columbia to Maidens. We plan to meet at Maidens about 8:30 am. This is about 25 River miles.
This is not the rockiest section, but it is the section that will probably be paddled in the dark by those racers going straight through during the 100-miler June 20 and 21. PM me if you are interested. We are paddling 18'6 racing canoes, so decently long and fast boats should be used.
