OCT - Rappahannock , Nov 16th

Post by Barb »

Gonna change the Nov 16th trip location. It was scheduled to be Balcony, but I'm moving it to the Rappahannock. Meet at 10:00 at Old Mill Park to paddle the Rappahannock from Mott's Run to Old Mill Park. Let me know if you're planning to join us.

Dave and Jackie have offered their place to camp - or also offered the Va Outdoors Center. Let me know if you're planning to camp and I'll let Dave or VOC know.

I was hopeful Balcony would be running on the 16th as I had a really good time there at the end of August on the OCT you hosted. I'm in for this trip however. I'll keep my fingers crossed it stays up and I'd really like to see something over 3 foot. Never ran it this low. Lowest I've ran it was 3.6 @ 2600cfs, that was a really fun level.

I'll be interested if it comes up. 2.5 now. You will be dragging your boat at that level. Lets hope for some rain!

Yeah if you're on Caroline Street you can't miss it. But that address should get you very close.

Also here's a good river map, this trip will be parts 17 to 23.

I unfortunately have to back out, last minute family obligation.

Have fun! Hope to read a trip report as I'm wondering about the Rapp at this lower level.

Ravin, Gabe & Chris,
I'm watching the level drop and am asking for expert guidance. Keep an eye on this thread, please. I'll let you know as soon as possible. Ravin, I've done it at 2 ft (in my opinion, the lowest I'd go), but I had a native F'burg taking us down.

I'll watch. For what it's worth a ~100cfs bump is forecast for tomorrow morning (AHPS for Rapp above Fredericksburg)
