Mangles Proposal Lower Gauley Trip October 12 (& 13)
“Return to the Scene of the Crime”

Formally known as the Lower Gauley First Timers Trip

Giggles and I will be coordinating a trip on the Lower Gauley Oct 12
We are planning on staying and meeting at Rays Campground.
http://www.rayscampground.com/

The plan is to meet at Ray's Campground at 10:00am to set shuttle and Put On at Woods Ferry for part of the Middle and then the Lower.
Lower Gauley

Middle Gauley
http://www.americanwhitewater.org/conte ... l/id/3128/

We are currently planning on going up Friday Night.

This trip was started as a first timers trip and we hope to continue in that tradition.
If you are a first timer and are interested, please contact one of us first (contact info at the end)
Please don't just show up.

We have already had some interest from some first timers and to be able to accommodate
them and any more, we need some LG Veterans to join us also.
So if you feel comfortable on the LG and would like to help a “new to the LG” paddler, please let us know also.
We would like to make this as safe a trip as possible and will have to limit the number of
first timers if we don’t have enough veterans. Thanks for your help!

Also, this being the Anniversary of the Mangles Proposal, we’re encouraging any
Paddling couples that would like to take the next step to join us for this trip. We
didn’t have any last year (almost though… ), but we are still hopeful that we will have some this year.

We will also run something (NRG or some natural flow) on Sunday the 13th.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!

I would like to join in. Wasn't able to do the LG during Gauley Fest due to the higher volume so I was already thinking of going down before the end of the season. I'll be on my cataraft so I will be a lot slower so I can follow some commercial rafts down. Just need help with the shuttle part.

I plan to be there. Wade / Sejal, I sent you an email. If you don't get enough veterans to accomodate a first timer like me, I will look for other options that Saturday and maybe try to join you Sunday.

I may try to leave Richmond early enough to be in West Virginia before lunchtime Friday. Anybody paddling Friday afternoon? This will be my first time paddling any of these rivers, so I can't bring much local experience to the table. What I can bring is cold beer to the takeout if anybody is willing to have me along and show me the lines and where not to go.

Cheers,

Nate

Gnarly, Teague and I are headed up early for a Friday NRG run. I can show you down. I will be leaving first thing Sunday morning to get back for work. If you'd like to carpool keep that in mind for the return trip. 757 three for ate 3 to 37 Chris

Anyone passing through Charlottesville on the way there Friday evening or the way back Sunday? I'm looking for a ride. I'll help with gas of course

What time Friday would you like me to pick you up? I'm coming from Stafford, passing right by Charlottesville on Friday and heading home on Sunday. I'd be happy to give you a ride.

Lower G

Post by ryanboater »

I plan to be up there this evening with some other Cville folks and am looking to paddle the Lower G tomorrow. Have done the river a few times, all without incident. Sent you guys a paddling resume via email. That being said, I only remember the lines to Koontz Flume and PSH, so Im not sure how much help I can provide to the first timers.

Lemme know if its cool if I join.
