Hey Mango,
Any possibility of me in your raft on Saturday? I'm not sure I'm ready for the LY in my IK. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Terri

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!

Steve,
Plan on me for the Casselman and/or the Middle, depending on whichever day you aren't doing your PFD! Do you know if anyone else is planning any easy trips in addition to what you may be offereing?

Looks like we are coming for Friday and Saturday LY

Post by dkeller »

Looks like myself (I have paddled LY 12+ times at levels from 18" to 4'+), my 15 year old son (first time on LY but a decent intermediate paddler stepping up a slight bit from N. Branch, Cherry(WV), WW Ctr in Charlotte, etc.)and another guy who has done it probably 5-6 times and is a solid intermediate paddler. All of us will be on Torrent SOT's.

May also have another father and son (14) who likely will rent a shredder both days so they should be fine. father has run LY 5-6+ times (ducky, SOT) as well and is a solid intermediate paddler. I did LY in a shredder years ago at 3.5' and could not get in trouble no matter how hard we tried (sure it is possible, at least at Dimple).

I guess we would like you to hold 3 hard boat reservation for us for Saturday at 10am assuming that is still the launch time plan.

Plenty of inflatable ones left on web site so the father and son can grab a couple if they decide to come (looks likely).

Will send e-mail for Sat LY as well in case you miss this post.

Yough Forecast for the Weekend:
Ohiopyle is expected to fall steadily between 3.0' and 2.5' through the weekend, but localized thunderstorms could cause unexpected rises.

Should be a nice padded level. A lot better than the boney 1.7' for last years Bill Gordon Trip.

Greetings Fellow Summer Rendezvous Paddlers.

Tomorrow we are going to be in a bit of a time crunch (schedule).
Pancake breakfast is at 8:30, last year the wonderful Board Members were early and gave us some extra time to work with. I'm hoping they will do the same this year. :D
If everyone could be ready to leave (pull out of the campground) by 9 am that would be very helpful. We have a large group and we need to keep things moving.
Once at the Grassy Knoll, drop your gear, drivers who want there vehicle at the takeout need to get on our list and head for the takeout. Wait at the takeout for the shuttle to come back
(don't want people getting left or hold up the group because we're waiting on you, but you already found another ride).
Make sure your dry clothes are in a takeout vehicle.
We will need to get a few people through the gate before 9:59 am. So a few volunteers (5) that aren't driving would be helpful.
Shuttle drivers and the rest of the crew should be back and be ready to put on by 10:15/30 am.
Everyone needs to have $5 to by shuttle tokens before they get on.
I will get the passes ($3) and hand them out.
If you are a first timer or someone who needs lines or whatever, let me (or Sejal) know in the morning before or during breakfast.

This is going to be GREAT! :D

Unfortunately, I am unable to go. :( Barring rain.....looks like the Casselman is going to be too low. Not sure how many Middle Yough'ers there are......feel free to run with it.
