Looking for a Lower James crew SAT March 9th

Post by JrockAVL »

Hey Y'all,

I'll be passing through Richmond this Saturday and would like to paddle the Lower James with a few people that know the fun lines and sports. I've worked the Ocoee River for a couple years and have done my fair share of IV-V creeking here in NC. I would prefer to have a planned crew before hitting the put-in Saturday morning.

Please respond if you're boating and don't mind me joining your crew!

Thanks,

Justin

Hey Folks,
Justin is a fellow boater from Asheville. Looking for some folks to boat with. Solid guy with the skills. Playboats the UG. Show him the lines and you will have a hook up in Asheville.
See you folks at WOR!

I'm boating on Saturday afternoon. Not exactly sure what time yet, but Jdub will hopefully post on this thread when we're going to hit it. You're certainly welcome to join us.

Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

I may get up there to join yous. Depending on the severity of my Friday nightshift hangover.

Sejal and I will be there also.

Just got off the phone with Justin (original poster) and he will be joining us also. :D
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!

We are paddling the LJ around 9:30ish. Time is somewhat flexible since it is dependent on the MTB ride that starts at 8:00 and the ride should take around an hour. Join us if you want.

Paddling Today

Post by ryanboater »

You folks mind if my friend and myself join you coming from Cville? I think Ive paddled with a few of you before.

Ive paddled the James some since moving here, but havent personally seen it at the higher water levels. My other experience includes Cheat Canyon at various levels, Lower G, NRG, LY, Maury, etc.

My buddy's experience level includes the NRG, Maury, James at 6 ft, etc.

We want to find a good group at 7 ft-ish and would want to learn the lines at the high levels.

Lemme know! Feel free to PM too.
