Awesome day on the rivers. Started off pretty dang chilly, right around 18 degrees. The Rapidan was right around 3.27, pretty colored water. The sun wanted to peek through a couple of times but never really made it. I took off on my cataraft about 45 minutes before the rest of the group. They caught me up and zipped on past me a little before they pulled out for lunch. Hung out with some very nice guys for lunch. A huge thank you to Scott for putting this together. I caught some fairly stiff head winds the last half of the trip, not horrible, but I was catching a fair amount of wind. Made the whole 16 miles in 5 hours and 20 minutes with about a 30 min stop for lunch. Sorry I was not able to make the pot luck, but the wife had a mishap with most of the pot of chili ending up in the passenger side floorboard and minor damage to the back of the Jeep where she was rear ended.
I hope you guys had a great day today on the water, must have looked awesome with the big snowflakes!!
I learned a valuable lesson on the second day. 17' prospectors don't seal launch well. There's a picture somewhere, but I can't pull it up on the iPad. Had a great time overall!
