New River Rendezvous 2012

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

New River Rendezvous 2012

Post by bambam »

It was a hoot for me. Nice weather, the New always runs (haha, at least so far!), great company, feelin' the love.

Plus, I got to hang out with two separate crews of sweaty athletic women in a raft!

If interested and if I got the link right you should be able see photos here:

As usual, happy to share higher res if you see one you like.

Cheers,

Ken, those are AWESOME photos!!!
Thanks for taking them and thanks for being a great guide (even though you called me a sweaty athletic woman).
This New River Rendezvous is one of my fondest memories of the entire year. I had never been before, and couldn't be more glad that I joined in this time around. I had a totally fun and relaxing day on saturday with Ken and other sweaty athletic women in the raft, and a wildly successful PFD of the New River Gorge on Sunday!! Thanks to EVERYONE who helped shepherd me down, show me the lines, calm my nerves, and cheer me on! The entire weekend was all kinds of fun and I couldn't have asked for finer folks to spend it with.
I'm already itching to get out there and do it again!
:D
the big stuff...is just the little stuff...bigger.

Great shots (as always) Ken! Especially like the ones of Laura....Barb....and Max K showing Wade the lines! Perhaps one year....you can take some sweaty athletic guys down? Uhhhh......scratch that. Since it is unlikely that I will PFD (solo) the NRG any time soon.....would be nice to see it from a raft. Rafted it about 20 years ago but I was a "tourist" back then. Be kinda cool to see it with a more critical eye....kinda like a few of us did the Lower Yough a few years ago.

It looked like everyone was either trying to rock spin on the bottom of what looked like lower keeney or did it just happen that way?

HA HA Ginny.....I'm thinking IN the raft might be a better place to be than UNDER it.

It was lower Keeney indeed and in some ways it gets more difficult at lower water. Oh, and um, yeah, that's the ticket, the rock spinners were definitely doing it on purpose.
