OCT - South Fork Shenandoah - Saturday, June 9

Post by Daryl »

Saturday's trip will be the Newport to White House section of the SF Shenandoah. This is a very pretty class I+ paddle that is suitable for everyone. Based on current water levels and lack of rain forecast this week, the river will probably be at a slightly low level by Saturday, but higher than typical summer time lows. Current weather forecast for Saturday is mid 80s and sunny.

Meet time: 10:30am at the Newport VDGIF boat landing.

Ice cream stop after the trip is planned in the town of Shenandoah.

Please let me know if you're coming so I know to look for you.

Side note: I'll be offering a $5 reward if you find a silver and black Mohawk paddle on the trip. Paddle was lost on Saturday. :(

Can't make your trip but will be there on Sunday with the adaptive paddling folks. Any clue as to what portion of the run the paddle disappeared? Will keep an eye out for it.

Thanks Ken. It was lost in the rapid just before the 340 business bridge. We were fishing that day, so we never caught up to it. Everyone that we asked said "yeah, saw it float by about 10 minutes ago". I'm sure it's in someone's collection now or in the lake behind the dam. The "reward" will at least have my daughter entertained on Saturday.
