what did you paddle in 2011?

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

what did you paddle in 2011?

What did you paddle in 2011 ?
Even though my year was cut short due to injury on October 27, I’d consider 2011 to be a great paddling year.

99 river runs, 7 PFD’s great friends and good travels.

My list:
James River in Richmond- Upper & lower
Tohickon Creek- Pennsylvania
Conway River- Virginia (PFD)
Lehigh River-PA- Rockport –Glen Onoko
Lower Yough-PA
I made 3 trips to Ohiopyle in 2011, total of 6 runs. In June I took some old friends down for their PFD’s. In July we had the Club Meeting there with over 30 paddlers and then the Bill Gordon trip in October when the level was at 4’.
After the Yough in July, a group of 10 Coastals headed west to Colorado. It was my first ever time in Colorado so all were PFD’s.
Eagle River
Arkansas River- 3 sections (Brown’s Canyon, Royal Gorge & Fractions)
Clear Creek
Lower Gauley-PFD
New River Gorge
I’m looking forward to 2012, but my season won’t be starting until spring. SYOTR then!

Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

2011 was my first year paddling. I started in late July and almost everything I've run was a PFD.
Rappahannock river: numerous runs on sections between Kelly's ford and Hopyard farms
Rapidan: Eli's ford to confluence (This was a lot of fun due to the flash flood, it was also my second time canoeing, first time solo)
Raystown lake, Pensylvania
Maury river: Rockbridge baths
Tye river
Potomac river: Dam 4 to Antietam creek

Okay, now I'm finished.

100 runs. 69 @ K1, 21 @ OC1, 3 @ OC-2, 2 @ R6, 2 @ Shredder, 1 @ SOT2, 1 @ SUP, 1 @ K2.

38 venues in 10 states: VA, WV, MD, PA, GA, SC, FL, NC, TN, CA.

If inclined to bother, specifics are below.

PFD's have become rare for me. I guess that's a sort of good news / bad news thing. I've enjoyed a wide variety but I love the adventure of a PFD. Always fun. I did manage to hit Gooney, finally. We did a scenic run of Gandy Creek in WV, PFD for me too.

Middle Fork River into the Tygart River x 3 was icing on the cake. I don't get to run that so much.

Woe is me, as usual, only one run of the Cranberry. Same goes for the lower Gauley. They deserve closer attention.

It was a great year for running Goshen Pass. 33 runs, by far my most frequent run of the year.

Thanks to my many paddling friends that have helped me survive 2011 with some bit of sanity. Especially Giggles! :D
Here's to 2012 being a much better year on the river.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!
