Lower Gauley with Karl, Kessman and Queen Alicia

Post by CLAMS! »

Thanks to everyone that made the trip. I had a really great time and it was a great escape. I think I can speak for Guy too when I say..."It made me feel all tingly inside".

Thomas & Guy,
it was an honor to travel w/ the Corn! I wish I could read the captions in the ultrafine artwork in your trip report (how 'bout typing them out?). I did see my crown/helmet, so thanx for including me.

Til next time, Alicia

You might consider selling the art work for a Corn Wagon fundraiser.

If you get a few beers in her, Dinsdale will start the bidding at $250.

Coastals Fundraiser

Post by Gerry »

What a good idea for a coastals fundraiser!

Corn art! Now who wouldn't want an original 'Monster' in their front room?

I'd double my membership fee if I got one! Or a corn calendar!

I will bring her a case to Gauley Fest, the wagon needs some springs!!!

Hey Monster, get those originals ready!
Envelope – Free stationary taken from the Marriott while on a business trip.
Snowflake address label – sent to me free and had to be used up.
Stained glass stamp – It was more then three feet away from me when I decided to get them so you know I didn’t see them clearly
Butterfly and Sunflower stickers on the back – Also free and required because the glue on the envelope was so old it no longer stuck.

NRG

Post by Shaggy »

Though I didn't make the LG trip on Sat., the NRG on Sunday was worth the drive. I hadn't paddled it since my first season in 2001, so it was a redeeming pleasure to see it again. It's amazing how the perspective of difficulty changes after several passing years. I want to thank Guy (sausage links mmm...) and Dave for breakfast and Scott for the snickers. It's great to paddle with such a positive and happy group. I wasn't aware of Monster's artistic ability, very original. Maybe one day I'll get a Monster original of me running some class V rapid. Also Pies and Pints is highly recommended for some post paddling grub.

Short version.

Persius, son of Zeus, sent away by king Acrisius killed Medusa by cutting her head off. He didn't turn to stone because he only looked at her reflection in his shield. Continuing his journey, carried by his flying sandles he used Medusa's head to turn Atlas to stone, creating the Atlas mountains. Later he came across Andromeda who was chained as a sacrifice and about to be eaten by a sea monster. He bargained with her father for her hand in mariage if he killed the monster. He killed that monster. That sea monster was THE CRACKEN!

The Craken, now reincarnated, is known to attack kayakers when least expected (kind of like the paddle snake). As it did me on the Upper New once.

Thanks for saving us the on the Gauley, Queen A.
