LOWER GAULEY FRIDAY:
I’m running the Lower Gauley the Friday of Gauley Fest. First timers with qualified resumes are welcome. If interested, contact me at dave dot kessmann at fgwa (period) com.
This trip is quite large and has only been successful in the past because we have split up in to smaller groups. If you are interested in leading or safety boating for a few folks, your help would be greatly appreciated.
Let’s figure on meeting in the parking lot of the Food Land in Gauley Bridge at noon on Friday. The Food Land is on Rt. 60 on the left just before you get to the intersection of 60 and 39 in Gauley Bridge. It is a good sized grocery store. You won’t miss it. It is not the Food Land near the intersection of 19 and 60. Make sure you are at the right one. If you’re not in Gauley Bridge, you are at the wrong Food Land.

Envelope – Free stationary taken from the Marriott while on a business trip.
Snowflake address label – sent to me free and had to be used up.
Stained glass stamp – It was more then three feet away from me when I decided to get them so you know I didn’t see them clearly
Butterfly and Sunflower stickers on the back – Also free and required because the glue on the envelope was so old it no longer stuck.

Sunday middle Gauley anyone?
Boyz and I are going to hit the middle G for a play run Sunday after the festival. Looking for people to run with.....not that that is particularly difficult on Gauleyfest weekend. I figure some of the people on the NRG run on Saturday might be up for it?

The Fat clan (sans Noah) will be in attendance. We are also bringing a family friend new to the sport. We will be staying at burnwood, prolly getting there sometime Friday, leaving Sunday morning.
Boating plans: depending on when we arrive (and whether Kessmann decides to share the apparent super-secret meeting time), I may run the lower G Friday. Santha and the kids are considering a hike to the upper G (and I'm sure would welcome any that might be interested...) Saturday we will be rocking the corn-raft on the george.

You guys better go back and read the directions because I'm not going to be able to make it this weekend. I've asked Sejal, Wade, and Brandon to fill in.Dave K wrote: BOATING:

Reading and comprehension are not their strong points. So to make sure everyone knows, I'll be collecting camping fees for folks joining us at Burnwood this year. $5 per person per night. Please bring cash and exact change is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to seeing everyone who can make it!Dave K wrote:You guys better go back and read the directions because I'm not going to be able to make it this weekend. Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

I have lead the UG once but I'd be more comfortable with someone who knew the lines a little better than I. My plans are still pretty open for the weekend, so let's see what happens.wickedender wrote:Sunday would be best for me. This would be my first time kayaking the Upper. I have run it 10 times before in various inflatables. I know the lines to some degree and I know most of the 'NO NO' spots. Would you be ok with that?
Again?? What happened now??Nutter wrote:have fun and be safe at G Fest!!! I will miss out again this year due to injury. One of these days I get there... I want to see mad pictures!!
