Weekend Trip to National Whitewater Center

Post by JDzielak »

Is anyone interested in a weekend trip to the national whitewater center sometime in mid-October? I'm thinking of heading down but I've never been there. It would be nice to get a group together with at least one person who knows the ropes.

Thi is something that I have been wanting to do for the past couple of years. They have mountain biking trails as well. Do any of you mountain bike?

I have always been curious about that place. I'd be interested in joining you guys depending on what weekend you pick.

The only thing that I've heard about it is that the eddies are extremly swirly and the concrete bottom is abrasive. o_O

Yes the concrete is sorta abrasive. If your combat roll is pretty good you will have a great time there and when you leave you boat control will have improved because of the harsh eddies. Honestly, though you will be used to them after 15 minutes or so, anyway. USNWC is not a "real" river, but it is super fun with many consistent different types of playspots and it is a wonderful place to get better. The big water channel was great for practicing moving around in pushy water before running the NRG.

Let me know when you guys go. I've been quite a few times and love it! I'll probably mountain bike some while I'm there as well if I can make it :D
