O.C.T. January 1 Chilly Chili Paddle & Party

Post by David »

As 2011 begins Coastal Canoeists will welcome the New Year with river trips on the upper and lower James followed by a party featuring zesty bean dishes and other edible delights in the home of yours truly in the Pony Pasture neighborhood.

This year's party will be enhanced by the addition of Louisiana Beans and Rice to my recipe repertoire. My first cooking was delicious, but the second was even better thanks to an improvement learned from conversation with a genuine Louisianan of French descent.

Details to follow as the date approaches. Thanks to those who volunteered to coordinate the river trips.

BUMP!

I think Giggles is coordinating the Upper / Lower James combo trip and I volunteered to coordinate laps on the Lower James that will meet up for the last lap with the U/L group. I'm going to start a separate thread for my trips; hopefully Giggles will do the same. We'll leave this thread related to the gathering at David's house following the paddling events.
Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

David
what time do you want us all at your place?
3pm?

Once we have a time I will post for the upper trip with option to continue down the lower.

Maybe we can all work out a shuttle with Brandon's lower group:)

3pm is great

I am really looking forward to this party. At or around 3pm is fine. Bring a dish or two, with a focus on chili specialties.

I live near Pony Pasture. If you need directions, call or PM.

Chilly Chili Paddle & Party

The weather for Saturday is looking good. The rain is staying west and though it will be cloudy the high is supposed to be a sub-tropical 58.

Come on over when you are done paddling. Even if for some reason you can't enjoy the James that day you are still welcome to party. Holler at me if you need directions but the trip leaders have them.

SYATP,

Are the two of you going to be in town?
