Cheat Fest @ the Triple K Ranch 4/30/10 – 5/2/10

Post by Dave K »

I’m heading up to my home in Friendsville, MD for Cheat Fest. If you’re reading this, you’re invited. I should be there Friday mid-day (but if I can get a ride up Thursday night, I’d rather do that [hint] :evil: ).

The Cheat River Festival is about an hour from my house. Some people eat too much and then go over to the Festival Saturday night. Others just eat too much and stay for the Festival at my house.

Water permitting, I’m going to be on the IV-V stuff in the area. :evil: The Upper Yough releases on Friday and Saturday that weekend but who knows?

It would be nice if someone stepped up to coordinate a trip on the Cheat Canyon or equivalent on Saturday (hnt).

This winter was a busy one at the Ranch. With a lot of help, there is a now a new water heater :evil::evil: and the two front bedrooms are almost done. There is a little bit of painting left on those. Also, it would be nice to get that cedar tree in the front yard trimmed up a little more without taking out the power line (another hint).

If you’re coming up be sure to bring something tasty for Saturday night. Also, if you’re feeling saucy, the house could use:

* Powdered dishwashing detergent
* Paper towels
* Coffee
* A couple of bucks for the honesty jar :evil:

Thanks for everyone’s help with my ongoing epic and I hope you decide to come.

In there like swimwear!!! :D :D :D

Let me know if you need a chainsaw for the tree trimming. It's possible we could give you a ride Thursday evening, but won't know for sure until the very last minute. If you find someone else, go with them.

That would be good..... and an extension ladder. We gotta get up kind of high so Juggy has a good view of the river from his room. :evil: We also gotta be careful not to take out Walter's power line.

Speaking of whom:

You might have to share a room, Jug.

I don't think Brandon is coming to Cheat Fest. :twisted: You should be able to borrow his Everest.

JUGGY! JUGGY!! JUGGY!!! Dude! I have a paddle, PFD, and helmet that'll probably fit you. Unfortunately, no boat that'll come close.

Dave, I don't have an extension ladder. Maybe someone else can bring one. Gromit and I would like to get back on the Cheat Canyon again. If not that then probably Lower Yough. I'm comfortable leading on the LY but I'd like someone to hold my hand on the Cheat since I've only done it once.

As much as I'd like to help Juggy out on this one... I plan on having my butt firmly planted in my Everest during Cheat Fest. That's right kiddies, I'm in!!! :twisted:

Consider your ride Thursday night taken care of. I'll pick you up at your place. Thanks for opening up your home to us gypsies for the weekend!
Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

I'm in. Will look to see if Thursday night is a possibility, if so I'll coordinate with Brandon. Otherwise see you on Friday.

Post by tolyho »

I'm a new guy around these parts but have met a few of you on the river lately. I'm suppose to have my new Detox by then(on order) and if so you're more than welcome to my Burn. It's a medium. I'm headed to PA(Lehigh)
