Quite a story.

So, ... , enquiring [sic] minds want to know?

Who the heck is this swimchic_435 dude / dudette anyway? How did they come to have the boat? Did they clean it up? Is it undamaged?

Details man, we want details!

The Craigs List Bandits were a young couple, mid to late 20's, could have easily lived in a trailer park (no offence meant to people that live in trailer parks). The contact information was the women, that is who Giggles talked to and set up the meet. The guys story started that the boat was his, despite the fact that it was to big for him. Then it morphed into his uncle found it in Charles City a week ago. So we didn't really get a definate answer on that.
It did seem to be cleaned up a bit.
Didn't see much apparent damage, front grab loop looked a little frayed. I'll take a harder look at it in the daylight tomorrow.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!

Glad to hear you got it back without having to unleash Max on 'em. Aside from the fact that the folks SUCK for trying to sell your own boat to you, at least you got a free clean up job. Oh, and a cool anchor rope with a floating bag!!! I gotta get me one of those thingys
Generally, I think that if I have the opportunity to paddle, and I've got something else to do or I feel like I shouldn't go for some reason, then I force myself to go and I always have a great time. So, I guess when in doubt -- Go, Paddle. -- Tommy Hilleke

That is the craziest story EVER! I can`t believe someone thought they could pull that off. Hey Mango and Giggles I just got back from the orthopedist and I have been walking around on a fractured fibula since Saturday. OOPS! Looks like I might be taking it easy for a few days. Unless I can find a sherpa to carry me to and from my boat at the put in and take out. My boat should provide good protection for my lower legs. Anyway, nature of the beast I suppose. Thanks to Stephanie, Mango and Giggles for getting me and my gear to my truck cause I was having a bit of difficulty walking at all.

I am so sorry about your Fibula. Thank you for your help.
I will be you sherpa. Was the fracture displaced or a hairline?

I agree -- what a story! It would be interesting to know how they got the boat.

Mango, glad that you were ok after your swim and that you got your boat back. Good work, Giggles! Marc, sorry to hear about your fibula. Hope it heals soon (and in the meantime, enjoy the sherpa services).

That is a great story. Had me on edge post for post til the end. I am very glad you recovered the boat. It is sad that people do these things. It is the world we have to deal with sometimes :( Good thing you all are safe and sound!
Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.
