Hey Daryl, I'd like to do that stretch downstream of the Woolen Mill, but i"m out of town this weekend. If you schedule a trip later this month let me know and I'll join you, along with two or three other paddling buds from c'ville

Regards,
Andy

Hey Andy - I'm open every Sunday this month. Just give me a shout and we can put something together.

Otter- Don't have anything planned yet. Was thinking the Rivanna or maybe the middle Rockfish if there are any takers.

lacrosse on Sunday

Post by laxjack3 »

Howdy,
Fellow Cville boater here...sorry i can not make it this weekend due to a lacrosse game in Richmond....

This is a stretch that I take beginners on would love to join up with other boaters if you don't mind one or two beginners I bring along.....

if not, I have been in Cville for years and boating for about 4 years, hard to meet other cville boaters....how about happy hour one afternoon after work? Or rolling then drinks.....or weekend run and hey drinks...

Just looking to find more boaters in the area to go paddling with,....

FYI if it helps...I am a class IV or III playboater/river runner

The river is about the water and the people you boat with.....with all the rain the water has been easy to find...people in Cville to boat with much harder...
I will be boating next week and maybe even Wednesday after work..
Drop a line....

Planning on the Rivanna Sunday 4/17

Post by hmt2b »

My wife and I are planning to drive out from Richmond and hit the Rivanna from Crofton to Palmyra. It's a very easy trip - riffles mostly, but the water moves reasonably well so you don't have to overpaddle. We did it in under 3 hours w/out much effort. Easy takeout and putin and DGIF ramps w/ great parking, about a 15 minute ferry. Good opportunity for photographs - quite a pretty trip.

It's our first trip of the season, so it's mostly to knock the rust off and just try to get our feet wet. We'd love to meet some folks and help ferry.

Anybody interested? Shoot me an email.

Notes from my last trip:
MONT Route 600 bridge near Lake Monticello - "Crofton"
37?55.14' 78?17.85'
PALMYR Route 15 bridge near Palmyra - "Palmyra"
37?51.47' 78?16.01'

10/10/04 gage height at Palmyra 3.4'. Easy run, small riffles, scenic bends, wildlife, no development along banks.
