Oh look! here's another subject line, yippee!
Thanks for bringing this back up Julie, there's a lot of first timers coming to the Quarterly meeting on Saturday and lots of questions about what to expect and how to act and so on.
Here's answers to the questions I've received so far;
First of all, first timers have to pay $50 initiation fee, (just kidding, it's free but you have to volunteer for something).
You don't have to be a Coastals member to come to the event, (you can join while you're there if you want).
You can bring as many guests as you want, (as long as they volunteer for something)
Bring a dish to share, (or money).
There's a stove so you can warm food. If you're already a Coastals member check the last issue of CaNews for suggestions on what to bring. For example, I'm an L so I bring a salad. And it is BYOB. Alcoholic beverages are considered VERY poor form on the river and if you are the designated driver, but for the rest of us? You Betcha! Bottoms Up!
Most people come directly from the river so casual clothes are fine, but not your smelly river sneakers!
The festivities start as soon as the CYA arrives, or at 4 p.m. whichever comes first.
There is a business meeting going on at 4 pm, but it's boring and you don't have to attend. It's just for grown ups anyway. Just hang outside with the beer guzzlers and other fun people until the food gets spread about 5:30.
We eat about 6 pm, then get our socks blown off by the Dagger Pros and Girls at Play slide show.
When there's no more food we all go home.
Sounds like fun, dontcha think?

Never let the absolute truth get in the way of a damn good story:)
