Sally
Your van can't do the takeout at river level, but there is plenty of parking at the top of the hill. If the river isn't up too far there is plenty of space at the gravel bar to mill around. If there was a way to transfer you from river to manual chair to 4wd vehicle then that could work to get you at least to the top of the hill.

My car doesn't do that hill, or I'd say come along with me.

Bill, How long is the walk up the hill to the easy parking?

I am not familiar with the takeout, but I have a 4x4 F150 and willing to help anyway I can.

from river takeout to parking is about 175 yards.

Here is a link to a google map of the takeout. It also has directions from put-in to take-out. You'll have to zoom in a little to see the takeout detail.

Looks like I stopped receiving emails on this thread, so thanks for the help regarding the take out Bill.

We should have plenty of hands available to get all boats and gear up to the parking lot easily even if the gravel bar is inaccessible to vehicles due to higher water.

Thursday afternoon update. I've had about 12 people express interest in tomorrow's Cowpasture trip.

I plan to be at the put in by 11am tomorrow as originally planned, however the weather forecast seems to have take a nose dive compared to earlier in the week.

The latest forecast I've seen is for rain, with storms and high winds after 10am. I'm a gamer for some rain, but don't like to play in thunder/lighting and high winds. I have a hard enough time trying to keep the canoe upright without wind trying to blow me over!

Anyway, the decision for me to paddle may be a game time decision at the put in tomorrow.

We can wait 'til morning to decide, but given the forecast we're pretty dubious about tomorrow. Any thought of punting to Sat. or Sun.?

Given the forecast and length of drive, I'm bailing on tomorrow. Thanks for the info and offers of help. Sally

I've just been informed that my boss needs me in the office in the morning. That means I can't leave town until noon. I'll see everyone at Douthat after your paddle.

Wick, most likely not, for me anyway. I’m planning on joining the Jackson paddle on Saturday and most likely won’t be able to paddle Sunday.

Looking like a lot dropping out for tomorrow, with the drive and the forecast of storms tomorrow I most likely will not try to be there. Thanks for trying !! You never know about the weather and it looks like a repeat of last Friday!
