Who is going to the Yough Oct 23rd?

Post by Paddleboy »

The wife and I are planning on heading up next weekend and paddle the Lower Yough with Bill?s group. But if they get some rain we might run the Cheat Canyon on Saturday. It would be great to meet/see some of you folks.

I may go up, going to upstate NY this weekend and was hoping to catch Moosefest but the water looks a little low. If I don't go to the fest I can take the wife over to Niagra thereby earning brownie points tradeable for a weekend on the Yough :D
I used to be a paddler, now I just play one on the Innaweb.

Brownie Points

I am actually trying to earn brownie points by going the Lower Yough, and not pushing the wife to the Gauley this weekend. But I'm sure I find a way to lose the points.

:!: Planning on going ....but, of course anything could happen between then and now!
Its been quite a few years since I have been on this trip at this time of year so I am leaning toward being there!
I think I was still paddling an open boat then so its been at least 8 yrs.

Dry Suits

Post by Dino358 »

Hey Folks - Bring anything Extra you may have too, I am Unequiped and not planning on going unless the weather is right...Unless I find something warm and waterproof to wear!

If you have anything laying aroung - Size XL - I'd rent it with beer!

Just discovered a heat source due to tight muscles in my neck - CAPSAICIN. Just bought Capzasin-HP and lathered it on after reading: 'a transient burning sensation may occur' on the package. Only after turning on a fan and switching to short sleeves due to the heat, I read the rest of the sentence that continued on the next line: 'upon application but generally disappears in several days. Forget washing it off your hands - wear gloves when applying.

You won't be cold again. Ever. Cold water makes this stuff hotter. I'm taking it on every cold-water trip.

I am also planning on going.
Envelope – Free stationary taken from the Marriott while on a business trip.
Snowflake address label – sent to me free and had to be used up.
Stained glass stamp – It was more then three feet away from me when I decided to get them so you know I didn’t see them clearly
Butterfly and Sunflower stickers on the back – Also free and required because the glue on the envelope was so old it no longer stuck.

:) I am planning to be there. I'll be leaving home (Lake Monticello, ten miles south of Xion Crossroads, exit 136 on I-64) before 4AM Saturday morning and traveling directly to the put-in for 10AM. Anyone going up from nearby that wants to carpool? I am driving my Grand Caravan. George Westerlund phone: 434-589-5674
