New this year was a longer course option. All the racers chose to do this which kept things very competitive. To make it even more interesting, the Buchanan gauge went from 2.3 to 4' overnight. Everyone agreed that we should be able to finish the race prior to the full pulse arrival. We kinda did, and were then able to enjoy the extra water paddling back to our cars. That higher flow did slow all the times, however, and even led to a few swims.
In the end, Tom Eick once again dominated the field with new Olympic and Wold Record times of 50:37 - no one else was even close. Here he is cooling off afterwards at the boat ramp.
