Lucky 13. Brief history. I started this race over a decade ago so that I would have an excuse to paddle a river after the fam's annual week long trip to Nags Head (and to work off all that sun, sand, and spirits). I typically regret that idea about halfway into the race.
Small but enthusiastic turnout this year. Our overall winner was once again Tom Eick, with a time of 25:36. While no one else was even close, Tom was just a bit slower than his course record of 23 minutes. Of course, watching him disappear upstream only reinforced my regrets.
