Umteenth Gauley Fest Weekend

Let us know how it went! Swim confessions and carnage reports are welcome, but it's not fair to tell on your buddies!

Umteenth Gauley Fest Weekend

Post by Alicia »

'Twas another fine club weekend! Big thanks to Dave K. for orchestrating. I think there were 25 boaters on the Lower Gauley on Fri - we split into 3 groups. Had about the same # on the New Gorge Sat. I personally had a good time helping to shepherd a 1st timer there (great job, Stefan!). The New came up to 0', which was a fun level. Thanks also to the good folks, led by Savanna, who made the Super Shuttle work in conjunction w/ their trip on the upper Surprise section.
A couple of us opted to hike on Sun along the Endless Wall overlooking the Gorge. I really recommend it for great views from Double Z to Kaymoor rapids.

Thanks to all for a fun weekend!

Good fun as always, thanks Dave for organizing.

The small state park at Carnifex (spelling varies) Ferry also offers some nice hikes, some rather instant gratification, along the Gauley.

Cheers,

Ken

Thanks Coastals.
The weather was perfect and the river runs were filled with fun. Even snuck some mountain biking in and checked out the nice option of "the Bike Farm" for camping.
Have you swam with your kayak lately?
