It's hard to write a short report, but I'll try:
Friday: thanks to Tom Wood and Christine for setting up a great camping area, kitchen and covered tables for us. Tom and four others paddled the LY on Friday.
Saturday am: breakfast for 45 campers - pancakes, sausage and fruit - oh, and hot coffee! Thanks to all who helped flip the flapjacks!
Later Saturday am: thanks to Wade for finding launch passes and doing such a GREAT job organizing such a huge group: over 30 hard boats, 3 rafts and 3 shredders (at least). Lots of first timers and Sejal did a great job matching them up with more experienced paddlers. The size of the group was only matched by the size of the waves and river - it was 3.2 - bigger than my canoe had ever seen. Unfortunately for me, I missed the eddy in Entrance and the hole below it was bigger and hungrier than I could handle and sucked me back into it. My boat continued to surf the hole until it got tired and joined me on a nearby rock - well trained boat...
Saturday nite: yummy pot luck dinner, George gave a great summary of the important things going on in Coastals. Thanks to Sejal for a GREAT presentation on shoulders & how to keep them healthy.
Sunday am: another 20 or so hard boaters, rafts and shredders, Terri's pfd and another great day on the river!
It was great to meet new friends, paddle with old friends and show the river to some more! Thanks to all who volunteered their time to make it happen!
