I can't make it this week, but thought I'd post my notes from 4/6/08.
Stage rose from 6.28' to 6.33' while we paddled.
Flow rose from 3,670cfs to 3,740cfs while we paddled.
Excellent level. Plenty of water for glass.
Surf waves everywhere.
Perfect level for the female doggy wave.
VA State is cake at this level. Target rock is not an issue.
The whirlpools under the bridge look a little too big for my taste w/ a low cut boat, so I left the MC Acrobat on the truck.
Boats paddled:
Burn
Rip
Sith
We didn't attempt the ferry at the bottom of Jug-Handle. That looked like a pro move & since I'm not...
I paddled my Sith & had the Acrobat on the truck w/ the intension of playing in the whirlpool at the take-out. It was fine padlding by the whirlpool in the surface boats, but I didn't have the appetite to put the squirt boat in there at that level

How about Friday afternoon?

Trying to hit it between 5 and 6 ft. Hopefully it will hold until Friday afternoon - can't go before then. I'm hopeful since it's still dropping pretty slow. 1pm at the T/O?

mike, you should get with mark m and compare squirt boats, he says that he has played in the whirlpool on the app

Yeah! I've played there at lower levels. At 6.3' it's a little intimidating for me. At 9' it's SCARY

I'm thinking somewhere in the 5.5' range would probably be the most fun. I might try it at 6.3' if it were warm, but we all know the App only runs when it's cold

Jim,
As long as it's still above 4ft, I'm still planning to be at the T/O about 1pm. Are you in?

yeah, i will be there, i would go as low as 3.5ft
did you see the drop?

Yeah, I see the drop - looks like about a foot every 12 hours right now. Don't know if there will be water left on Friday at that rate. Unfortunately, I have a couple meetings Thursday that I can't miss.
We'll see - if at noon on Friday the App is above 3.7 ft, I'll head that way.
