Nolichucky UPDATE! OCT 4/29 & 4/30.

Married White Male looking for Multiple Partners? for a river trip!
Nolichucky Gorge.
Poplar NC to the Nolichucky Campground.
Two Days of Class III/IV Deliciousness.
Named one of American Whitewater?s favorite ?Play? rivers.
UPDATE!!!
Howdy paddle fans.
This past weekend, the Nolichucky spiked off the charts, topping out over 8000 cfs. The good news is that it seems to be dropping fairly quickly. Looking at the gage, it appears that there will still be over 2000 cfs in the river come Saturday.
Please carefully consider your ability and AW's river description before signing up. I have asked for feedback on Boatertalk, can look for my post there. http://www.boatertalk.com/forum/BoaterTalk/1007594you As for my plans, if the river is below 3000CFS, were a go.
IF the river is over 3000 CFS, then there are some other options that Dave Kessman is considering. I am planning on running with this group.

The Campground is very nice, and it?s the takeout for the gorge section. The owners are very laid back and canine friendly. If your tenting, try to get the sites that are river front. I am going to reserve them under the Coastals? name. Additionally, they have a big fire pit that is kind of away from everything where we can stake a claim and have a community fire.

The Nolichucky is in an incredibly beautiful, deep, mountain gorge that offers lots of great play, especially within the first few miles. The Noli's punch is at the beginning, then it mellows out to a mostly class III run allowing ample opportunity to enjoy the scenery.
About me:
I am knowledgeable on this river, but have only run it a handful of times. So, depending on the rapid, river level, and skill set of the group, I will probably want to scout fairly often. For the most part, the Noli is Pool/Drop. As stated in the paragraph above, the real meat of this run is right at the beginning of the river. Most (if not all) of these bigger rapids are easily walked.
In search of Paddlers who are:
*Comfortable with Class III/IV whitewater,
(OR)
*OK with portaging, swimming, or conquering a rapid or two that may be above your ability. (I?ll set safety at the bottom and scoop up your gear)
(AND)
*Looking for some serious river play.
(AND)
*Enthusiastic about a great river and better party.
Make some room on your schedule - Cause this river is a blast!
Please let me know your intentions as soon as possible so I can coordinate with the campground. Right Now they?re expecting a crowd.
