We’re just 2 weeks away from Coastals annual community outreach at Riverfest in Waynesboro on Saturday May 2nd. We’ll be providing canoe rides for the kids and have a club booth and equipment display front and center riverside.
Pack a nice picnic lunch and come out for the day. Take a few kids for what may be their first canoe ride, spend some time talking up paddling and the club and see some of the many displays and presentations that the festival has to offer.
We have canoes, paddles and PFD’s, so there’s no need to bring gear, but you’re welcome to bring your own. We’ll have the booth set up by 9:30 and start ticketing kids for canoe rides. We’ll run just kids in canoes from 10:00-3:30. We will again have Fishburne Cadets to land and schlep canoes for us. At the end of the day, if there is interest, we can paddle a few miles down to Basic Park.
Riverfest attracts 3-4 thousand people every year. It’s families from throughout VA, with many kids coming to release trout they’ve raised in their classrooms. It’s a great time and I do hope to see many club members come out to enjoy the day.
