Sat 4/18/26 Spring Gathering- OCT Beginner Padle
Posted: Tue Apr 14, 2026 4:17 am
Good morning, based on the lack of water I expect we will not be able to run the beginner trip on the Maury from Jordan's Point Park to the DWR ramp on Stuartsburg Road.
So we will switch to the James River, Buchanan to Arcadia, about 6 miles in length. This is a gentle section with many riffles and small class I rapids. Perfect for beginners or those who just want an easy time down river. You can easily find the put in and takeout on google. If you have any questions just ask here and I will help you.
Coastals offers a beginner trip most Spring Gatherings. A few have been cancelled due to no interest. Therefore, if you want to go on this trip please post here. In any event by Friday, 4/17, Noon I will post again that we will paddle this section and the time to meet or not. If no interest I will cancel the trip at that time.
Regarding the other more advanced paddles on the Maury please check for those posts. As of today they do not have enough water to run the Maury either.
Cheers
JJ
