OCT - 14th Annual Balcony Attainment Race Sunday, Aug 4

Post by davidp »

Race to be held on Sunday, August 4 at 10:00.

New this year - there will be 2 race course options.
1) The original race, starting at Ironman takeout, Balcony section of James River, and finishing on the top of Jump Rock.
2) A longer race, starting under the AT pedestrian footbridge, still finishing on the top of Jump Rock (so this includes the lake paddle).

We will start the longer race first, 10:00 at the bridge. Simply park at the Snowden boat ramp, and paddle upstream a few hundred yards to the pedestrian bridge:

If you are doing the shorter race, be at Ironman and ready to paddle by the time racers reach you - you can start when the first racer arrives.

Rules: No rules, registration, safety, organization, or prizes (although we do hope to have cold beverages waiting for folks). No shuttle necessary of course; simply paddle back to your car when finished.

Here are last year's winners:

And in case you are wondering, the Eickman holds the original course record at 23 minutes (mere mortals take closer to 45 minutes). The lake should add about 20 minutes to the paddle.
