Rivanna Paddle Trip Thursday, 3/14

Post by PaddleAllen »

Paddle Friends,
This Thursday (3/14), Jan and I are planning to paddle the Rivanna River from Palmyra to the confluence with the James River at Columbia. That is a 15.8-mile class I+ trip. The forecast for Thursday is a high of 77F and calm winds. The projected flow is 870 cfs (3.80’). We will meet at the Palmyra Access at 10:30 and set shuttle from there. Bring lunch and water and join us.
If the flow drops below 700 cfs, we will change over to paddling the Rivanna from Crofton to Palmyra, a class I+, 6.7-mile trip. Meet at the same time and place.
It will be sunny with an air temperature around 77F, but the water temperature will be around 52F. Dress accordingly. The Palmyra access will probably be muddy.
Let me know if you are coming.

Paddle Buddies,
By request, we are changing the Rivanna paddle trip (Thursday, 3/14) from Palmyra to Columbia to the shorter trip from Croton to Palmyra. This is only a 6.7-mile, class I+ run. Meeting time and location stay the same. Meet me at the Palmyra take-out at 10:30 to set shuttle. We should have 7 paddlers, a flow of around 800+ cfs and a sunny warm day.
See you there,
