This Saturday and Sunday, join us for an invigorating December run down the New River Gorge. Cold water attire is mandatory.

The forecast is for high temperatures in the mid-40s, partly cloudy, and little chance of rain. The river level was high because Bluestone Dam was drawing the reservoir down to winter pool. However, they’ve been closing gates, there has been little precipitation in the watershed, and the dam minders expect to be finished with the drawdown Friday morning. My guess is that the level will be around 2 feet on Saturday morning.

The trip is on for Saturday but I don't have paddlers for Sunday ... yet. Remember boaters, this may be the best weather you get for awhile. (I think my prediction on the level may turn out to be pretty close.)
