3rd Jackson Pulse Release, 8/14/2019
Posted: Sun Aug 11, 2019 4:30 pm
All,
The third Jackson River Pulse Release is Wednesday, 8/14/2019. For the new partakers, this is a fast 13 mile class I – II run, with some nice wave trains. There is one, Class III-, rapid right below the dam. You can choose to run it or skip it; your choice. Usually, about half the group runs the top rapid and the other half puts in just below the rapid. The put-ins are separated by a mere 150 yards. Bring a lunch and plan on spending the day with us. It is a good idea to bring a change of clothes for after the run. Join the caravan or meet us at Petticoat Junction take-out at 10:00. Timing on the pulse is everything, please be prompt. For those in C'Ville or Waynesboro areas, I have room in my truck for 2 riders this time.
Remember, this is a dam release. The water will be cold (mid-50 F), so dress appropriately. The flow will be high, so anticipate strong and erratic currents in some places. Even though this is a relatively easy run, the high flow necessitates that everyone be strong swimmers. I do not consider this a beginner run; this is a low novice or better run. Only experienced paddlers on the top rapid, please.
Here is the schedule.
