O.C.T. Lehigh River PA - Whitehaven to Rockport - June 9
Posted: Thu May 24, 2018 10:39 am
June 9th I will be leading a trip down the Lehigh River in Pennsylvania from Whitehaven to Rockport.
I plan on meeting at 9:30am at the Whitehaven put-in. There we can drop our gear and then set shuttle.
I will be camping at the Hickory Run State Park with my family from Friday through Sunday. You may wish to book a campsite there by visiting this link: https://pennsylvaniastateparks.reservea ... kId=880409 or you may already have another place in mind.
This is a class II+ or maybe III run and is a good intermediate paddle. Safety is a priority - dress for the weather/swim. If you have questions about this trip, post your comments below or contact me directly.
I will most likely be bringing my 14' raft. I'll have my two kids (ages 8 & 11) with me who will be in the raft; my girlfriend may be in the raft or she will be kayaking. Kayakers and rafters (and yes even open boaters
) are all welcome to join!
I will have a few seats open in the raft for about 3 or 4 more butts, if you want to join and help me push rubber down the river.
The American Whitewater description is here: https://www.americanwhitewater.org/cont ... l/id/3138/
Please contact me if you plan on attending! I can be reached at smith.kevin.s@gmail.com or 540-292-5564.
Coastals membership is required to participate in this event.
If you are not already a member, you can join the Coastal Canoeists for only $20 at this link: https://www.coastals.org/membership.html
