OCT - The Nelson Downriver race is on for Sat., May 5, 2018

Post by davidp »

This is a race for all skill levels from novice to national champion. The race will be held on the Lower Tye River in Nelson Co., VA. The Tye and Piney river levels are looking great right now. But in the event the river is too low then the put-in will be moved to the take-out, the take-out to Wingina and most of the race will be on the James rather than the Tye - still a fun run.
Registration is from 9:00 AM - 10:45 AM and the first racers will be launched at 11:00 AM.
See our website at http://www.nelsoncountyva.org/NelDRace/
and click on 2018 Race Information for all the details.
The cost is still only $20 per racer. (ages 12 and under $5). Add $15 for a T-Shirt.

Water is looking good

Given the current water levels, we see no reason for the race to not be held on its regular course. If you are traveling, and concerned about low water, feel free to post that. I will update this as needed, but for now, plan on coming out and enjoying the classic Lower Tye run!

I’m planning on being there around 10 at the put-in to drop off my boat and shuttle my vehicle. The water level will be over the minimum, come on out and enjoy!
