Flint River in Georgia September 16 and/or 17

Post by David »

The class 2 Sprewell Bluff section of Georgia's Flint River is running and will be at an excellent level this weekend. This is about a 10 mile run through remote fall line hills. Shuttle is provided by Flint River Outdoor Center at Route 36. Their number is 706-647-2633. Shuttles leave at 10 and 12. They have a bridge gauge which is 4 feet above the Flint River at Carsonville USGS gauge. 8 to 9 feet on the bridge gauge is ideal and that is what it should be this weekend. FROC charges $28 per person and boat. If you have two kayaks you might get 2 for 1. I plan to be there at least one of these days, Saturday September 16 or Sunday September 17. It is a lot of fun with almost continuous rapids. FROC is about 100 miles south of Atlanta. The Flint starts just south of that city.
