O.C.T. Sat, 5/14 Goshen Pass
With decent chances of storms this week, on top of a base of runnable water now, I'm hopeful we'll be able to do this trip. Let's meet @ noon next to the Rockbridge Baths P.O. (please park across the road).
I'd like to P/I @ the swinging bridge, which is a Wildlife Management Area & requires a DGIF access permit or fishing or hunting license. See here for info: http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/access-permit/
We'll paddle down to The Ledges T/O.
This is a class 3-4 run. The 2 big rapids can easily be scouted or portaged. Please let me know if you're coming. If you've never done this run, please also contact me to be sure this is a good trip for you. First timers are welcome! Veterans, too!
Fingers crossed for a warm-weather Goshen Pass trip!

alternative run - Rockbridge Baths
In conjunction with Alicia's Goshen Pass trip on Sat, I am coordinating an alternative run on the Maury from Rockbridge Baths P.O. (or Indian Springs if someone can take lead on the river for the first part) to Copper Road. This section is a class 2-3 run for those of us who don't want the challenge of a Goshen Pass run. We will also meet @ noon next to the Rockbridge Baths P.O. (please park across the road). Please let me know if you're coming by Thurs night. All are welcome!

Greg - be glad to have ya!
Thanks, Jenny, for adding to the Maury fun!
The forecast looks promising for rain this week - hopefully the right amount. I'll post both Thurs & Fri nites w/ an update.

Hello, Nick - looks like you're jumping on Jenny's lower Maury trip, so she can show you directions to the T/O. But it's simple - head downstream on 39E a couple/few miles to turn right on Copper Road. Take it to the end of the road & park.
Reminder to folks using the Copper Road T/O - please drive very slowly adjacent to the river. We've been asked to by tenants there because of pets. Thanx.

well, I'm cautiously optimistic we'll have enough, albeit, low water for the Pass. It's starting to rise after rain this evening. Not much more rain in the forecast, so please check back here tomorrow nite. While I'm willing to run it down to 300-400cfs, others may not want to drive for that level. It does get pretty tight in spots, but very doable.

Trip is on
The Pass seems to be holding @ a low but adequate level. Let's stick w/ the original plan of noon @ the RB P.O. to then set shuttle.
Mid-60s, breezy, w/ chance of T-storms. Beats snow & ice!
Greg & Chris - are you still coming?
